Tafsir Sūrah al-Ikhlas Part 1

{All Creation From 4 Elements, 4 “Gul” Surahs }
Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani
Sūrah al-Ikhlas is one of the most important Surahs in the holy Qur’an. In this surah Allah described Himself by Himself. He said, “Say (O Muhammad): He is Allah the One, the Self-Sufficient master whom all creatures need; He neither eats nor drinks.”
This was revealed when the Prophet (s) was calling the people to believe in the Creator and to disbelieve in the idols, he said, “What you are worshipping is wrong. Come to the worship of Allah swt.” So the mushrikīn asked him, “Then describe for us what you are calling us to and speaking about. “Siff la na rabbuka.”
How can someone describe Allah? The Prophet (s) was asked by Jabir,
*
“What did Allah create first?” “Awwala ma khalaq Allahu nurī ya Jabir!” ( He created Nūr.)
*
What is nūr? how can we describe nūr? Is it like the electric light? You can see by means of it. Now if you turn off all the lights, you can see nothing. It has becoming dark. Nūr ash-Shams we say, light of the sun.
*
If the sun doesn’t appear the day doesn’t come. Then what is it? Night.? You cannot see anything.
*
Nur al-Qamar, the light of the moon, if it does not appear, then you can see nothing.
So why then did Allah create the Prophet's)’s light first?
*
What do we understand from the Hadith,
*
“Awwala ma khalaq Allahu nurī ya Jabir!” – “the first thing that Allah created was my light.”
*
It is dark. It is not existing.
*
If you go now and you turn off all the lights in this mosque, you can see nothing. It ‘is non-existent, because you cannot see.
*
When the light comes, then you see existence coming. So why then did the Prophet (s) say, “Awwala ma khalaq Allahu nurī ya Jabir!” what does this tell us? {Noon, wal Qalam, ALR, HM, N}
Why did Sayyidina Jabir ask this brilliant question? Allah inspired him to ask this so that the Sahaba would understand.
Allah wants to bring everything into existence. So to do that he must bring light. He must bring the magnificent light that makes everything appear. That is why you can see throughout this universe. { Nur-I-Muhammad}
So Allah’s first creation was “My Light”. Muhammadu Rasulullah is everything created.
*
That is wrapping all of the creation. La ilaha ill Allah is for heavens, describing the Creator. Muhammadu rasulullah is a description of creation.
*
Allahu nūr us-samawati wal-ard. With this light you are able to see.
*
So when the kaafir asked Muhammad (s) to describe Allah, that was not an easy task. So Allah said to the Prophet (s),
“Ya Muhammad say to them. Hū Allahu Ahad.” no one understands except the Prophet (s).
*
When He says to them “Say” it is Allah saying it. It is Allah that is saying that. You cannot understand that word Allah.
*
You cannot describe them, but you can tell them not to worship what is false. Tell them Allah is one. Everything you are doing, we cannot accept, but we have to tell you that Allah is One. That is for unbelievers to understand. How can they understand deeper than that?
But Allah is saying to him, Qul hū Allah. Say Hū – that unknown.
*
We say, when we want to express something in Arabic, regarding something that is not present, we say Hū, in the absent form.
*
Qul: Hū. That one who is absent, whom no one can describe, His name is Allah.
*
No one knows that identity, hūwīyya, that Essence.
*
It cannot be described in ordinary words. It can only be described in the most beautiful Names and Attributes. No one can know the reality. Who can know the reality of it except Allah swt?
Hū Allahu Ahad. Allah is the name that encompasses all the beautiful names. All beautiful Names come under Allah,. Allah is the name of the essence. All the Names and Attributes describe the essence but no one knows the Essence.
That Allah, about whom there are 99 Names, but in fact, in reality, the Names are infinite. Under one Name all those Names are encompassed. That Name is one and that Name is Allah. All those Attributes refer to One, nothing else.
That name that is encompassing all names and attributes. How many letters is it composed of?
Alif Lam Lam Hah. Allah. Four letters.
*
Always Alif represents, being the first letter of the name Allah, if you look at al-asma’ al-husna. What is the first letter of al-asma’ al-husna. You cannot say Rahman, you say ar-Rahman. You cannot say Razzaq, you say ar-Razzaq. All of them begin with Alif. Alif is always standing. In the form of up, never down. It describes akhirah. Islam. Alif. Iman, Alif. Ihsan, Alif. Everything related to akhirah must begin with Alif.
If you take away the Alif, what is left remaining of the Beautiful Name of Allah:
*
lam Lam hah – lillahi. What does it mean: for the sake of Allah, or He has this, it belongs to Him. So that first letter shows you the meaning of the name Allah.
*
If you take it away it shows you ma sīwallah, what is other than Allah, the Creation{lam, lam ,ha}. Without him it cannot be. Alif refers to Allah.
*
If you take it away, it becomes dunya, all that is other than Him. When you say to them Allah, you think He did not describe that information about that beautiful Name Allah from beginning to end.
*
If now you remove the first lam, what is left? La hah. Lahu.
*
Everything is for Him. You don’t own yourself, or anything He owns it.
When the Prophet (s) is being revealed, He understands these meanings.
What then is left if you take away Hah? It is Hū.
*
Back to Hū.
*
Whatever you knew you still are back to where you were – you know nothing, He is completely unknown.
Kuntu kanzan makhfīyyan, fa aradtu an ‘urif fa-khalaqtul khalq.
If you take the first letter which belongs to akhirah The “Alif” it is lillahi {remains is for Dunya}.
“ALIF” For Allah-
*
“LAM”= Heavenly Kingdom, lam al-malakut {subtleties and Energies Unseen}, the kingdom of akhirah. if you take away the first lam, then
*
“LAM”= Earthly Kingdom second LAM which represents Earthly kingdom, {all Mass of Planets etc..} lam al-Mulk and earthly kingdom,
*
When you take away these two kingdoms what is left –
*
“Hu”. = That means there is nothing except him. {Al-Hadi}
*
In between Alif and Hah, it means that between the beginning and end, the kingdoms of dunya and akhirah.
*
Between the Alif and the hah. Between the akhirah and the hidden.
*
That is “tell them O Muhammad what you are describing is One.” Ahad.
*
He did not say Wahid.
*
Ahad. More strong than Wahid. Unique one, no resemblance to Him. Laysa ka-mithili shay.
That word "Allah"{ Value Alif=1 Lam=30, Lam=30 Ha=5 =1+60+5=66,}
{ 66th name of Rasul is Sayedena Haqq} is the name encompassing all beautiful names.
*
When it is revealed to the Prophet (s) it comes to Him with all its manifestations.
*
With all the knowledge that it contains and the infinite description of infinite names are produced and given to the Prophet (s) Muhammad (s) and he is dressed with each and every one of them.
*
Allah dressed him showing the importance of Qul hū Allahu Ahad.
*
I am the one with no partner he is telling Muhammad (s).
*
Now when Allah is telling him is he not showing him as well?
*
Did he not take him up on ascension?
Every verse of Qur’an is a dress, is a tajalli and it is a light, Allah’s Ancient Words. When we recite Qul hū Allahu Ahad. We are reciting what the Prophet (s) recited. You are opening in the same way that the Prophet (s) has showed us as revealed to Jibraeel. What kind of pleasure do you want more than that? When you follow what was revealed to the Prophet (s) and through the same voice to Jibraeel from Jibraeel to Sayyīdina Muhammad. We are saying “Qul hū Allahu Ahad.” When a person has read the way the Prophet (s) revealed it, can Allah punish that one? He will send a tongue, [used] to produce a sound that recited the sound of the Qur’an that Allah [?? to hell] - you cannot imagine it?
That is why the Prophet (s) said, “There will not be a house left in a civilized place, or madar, a tent in jungle or desert, except that Islam will enter it.” Look now, everywhere people are saying the name of Allah and the name of Muhammad (s). People are now taking about the Qur’an and reading it, and they are not Muslim. How did the Prophet (s) know that? ? He said that Islam is going to enter every place. Sayyīdina Musa did not say that. Sayyīdina ‘Isa did not say that. Who told the Prophet (s)? Qul hū Allahu Ahad.
When Allah revealed that surah to him,
*
He dressed him with all that – ‘ulūm al-awwalīn wal akhirīn. {Secret of Rasuls Soul between Al-Ahad- Ahmad the difference between is the Meem of Muhammad}
*
Sūrah al-Ikhlas. There is no other Sūrah called Ikhlas, it means sincerity.
*
Anyone who can understand that Surah of Sincerity is given the title ‘abd.
*
Everyone except the Prophet (s) ‘That is because the real servant is the one who can understand the limits of a servant before his lord. That is what the Prophet (s) understood. He understands the limits. That is why He specified our Prophet (s). Wa annahu qama ‘abduhu…
He did not address anyone except the Prophet (s) in that way ‘Abd Allah.
*
It means he is the real person I have created perfect chosen to be worthy of that title, the servant of Allah { Ihsan Kamel}. It means if he did not understand the knowledge and the secrets from the time he was revealing Qul hū Allahu Ahad.
*
He would never have named him ‘Abd Allah. That is given to our Prophet (s). That is a name for someone who can dress all these lights and that was given only to him, in truth that name was only given to him.
Now people can call themselves ‘Abd Allah, Abdur Rahman, they are imitation. Allah did not call anyone else ‘Abd Allah except Sayyīdina Muhammad. You can call yourself anything you like. But Allah only gave that title to the Prophet (s).
O Muslims, the reality is not easy to understand. Normal tafsir normal commentaries are easy. We recite. We understand Allah is One – that is it. Is that what the Prophet (s) was supposed to understand.
Awlīya’ullah, Grandshaykh and Mawlana Shaykh say that what Allah revealed to the Prophet (s) on each letter of the Qur’an, he revealed it in 12,000 oceans of knowledge.
And they say that all that is written in bookstores, libraries, from ‘ulama, etc., if you add together and know it is but a drop in the ocean of the knowledge of the Prophet (s).
Huu al-Wahid al-Ahad. There are two different names.
*
Ahad describes the Essence. There is no description of the essence, it is described as Ahad.
*
All the other names al-Karīm, ar-Ra’uf, etc. all describe One Ahad.
*
Wahid all the names that describe the essence point to Wahid.
*
All these names point to Wahid.
*
That Wahid who it points to is Ahad.
*
There is no way to have a description there.
As many names as there are to describe an entity Wahid.
That entity is Ahad. If you have all these worlds and heavens as oceans of ink and trees becomes pens, you cannot describe Allah swt’s Name or lack thereof.
Allah’s words and Allah’s knowledge will never end, and the ink and trees will disappear and end and Allah’s Knowledge will never end. That is huge. So what is our knowledge then?
If people go now to all five oceans { 5 Oceans 5 Levels of Heart }and turn them to ink, and how many billions of trees, are in the world? Allah knows. If we make them into pens, and use that ink and write it in the knowledge of dunya. Will it finish or not? Today we have super computers, and all that is written today can be put into one super computer. So it means our knowledge ends, it ends, it is limited. Allah’s knowledge with all its ink and pens will never end. So how can we think we know something? We know nothing.
Wal Ahad ismun li man la yusharik fī mulkihi? Al-Wahid li man la yusharik fīhi?
Al-Ahad Hū al-dhat wahduha. Al-Ahad is the real Essence by itself.
*
Al-Wahid, the One, is a description of may different Names that describe that existence.
*
It is the Divine Presence of the Names.
*
Not the Divine Presence of the Essence.
*
The Essence of the Creator no one knows.
You know that thru His Names. So He described His Names only. Not His Divine Essence. That is why he said, “wa ilahukum ilahun Wahid.”{Illaha not Allah} He described the Names. He did not describe the Essence.
*
That is ghaybun mutlaq. He is describing the names, not the essence.
*
Wa ilahukum ilahun Wahid. Your Lord is one Lord.
*
There is no ilah except Him, the Merciful, the Beneficent.
So what are we then running for?
That is why in old times, when sitting and studying, this was the science. Not the science of today. I’m not saying don’t study. But that is what was important for everyone.
Sitting after midnight, learning these words, entering into this knowledge.
*
Is there any possibility of dunya after that?
*
They are swimming in the Divine Presence.
*
Now we know there is a presence of Divine Names and
*
Presence of Divine Presence.
*
So what are we running after in this dunya? That is why you see them in the past, pious and sincere.
Not like today. Today you go to a mosque to sit, you hear this and that. It does not help you to make your mind understand how small you are compared to creation. Not to Allah, hasha. You cannot compare him to anything.
Even when they were showing two astronauts trying to fix a satellite . I was looking at it, and at first I could not see the astronauts. Then I saw something like an ant on an elephant. The astronaut looked like an ant when compared to something very huge. What do you think about yourself, tiny miny, micro, nano, compared to this huge world, to the universe.
That is why if we Muslims will go back to our tradition, our sincerity our love of Allah swt and His Prophet (s), do you think that Allah will let us down. Do you think that Allah will not support us? Today we are down, others are stepping on us, why? Because we have lost our tradition. There is nothing to think about except dunya, dunya, dunya.
What did Sayyīdina Ali say, “Do for the dunya as if you are living forever and lie for akhirah as if you will die tomorrow. We are losing our children, our culture, our heritage, our Islam. How are we going to face our Lord?
That is why the mushrikīn came and asked the Prophet (s) show us Allah. That is why Sūrah al-Ikhlas was revealed.
I am skipping something but my eyes went there.
The tawhīd, to repeat it on one’s tongue, the tawhīd of the Essence, the repetition of the kalimat at-tawhīd,… it is in reality praise itself by itself.
The Servant of the One (al-Ahad),
the one who gave him understanding of that knowledge, and dressed him with it, [Ahad refers to the Essence] Hū wahīdun.
He is unique in his time and he is sahib az-zaman, owner of the time wa lahul qutbīyyat al-kubra he is the highest of Qutubs and he is standing by that name that Allah described him by that.
Abd al-Wahid is the one whom Allah unveiled to him His Beautiful Names. And we leave to whom was that ‘ilm given tomorrow.
Allah swt said, “Say O Muhammad! He is Allah the One!” and we have explained last session that Allah is revealing to the Prophet (s) to tell the idol-worshippers “Ya Muhammad, Say! Explain about Me.” Allah is introducing something to the unbelievers about Himself.
If you look at the Surahs that are after it,
*
Sūrah al-Falaq { Fire, Ego} and
*
Sūrah al-Nas {Earth, Form}, he is not introducing himself there.
*
In Ikhlas {Air, Soul} He is describing Himself as the One without partner.
*
In Sūrah al-Falaq He says, “Say: I seek refuge with Allah” there is no description there of the lordship.
*
Also Sūrah an-Nas is the same, saying “say I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind.” No description of ??
That is completely different - Sūrah al-Ikhlas. That is special. From what Awlīya’ have inherited, they have inherited a drop from an ocean.
We reached the explanation of ismu Ahad. Ahad is the name that cannot accept anyone to share anything in that essence. That is the name of the Essence of the reality of Allah swt.
*
That Essence is only known, when Allah said, “Ya Muhammad, the complete absent, the unknown reality that is unknown is known by the name Allah.” He is only known by His Name.
*
How can someone with limited eyes see the one who created above you, impossible?
*
This whole world, this whole planet earth, Allah has made every human being on this planet to make a prostration to one direction.
*
To the direction of Ka‘aba. Wherever you are on the planet.
*
Those who are in the west pray east and those in west pray east, those in the north pray south and those in the south pray north.
*
That means there is something, a center for this whole planet, that everyone on it has to direct himself in prostration, worshipping his Lord swt.
*
Look this world, if you look at the map, and you have a map, and the picture of the world, can the Ka‘aba be seen? Although you have to know that it is there existing and make a prostration in that direction, but because physically compared to the earth, you cannot see it. You can only see the mosque here where you are.
*
So you, compared to this earth, are not even a point on this earth planet.
*
This whole earth is not a point or might be epsilon, the smallest imaginable entity is epsilon. {The Dot Under the BA}
*
This whole earth compared to the universe is epsilon, that means it does not exist.
*
The whole universe compared to the Greatness, not of the Essence of Allah swt, to the greatness of the Name only is like an epsilon that does not exist. It is nothing.
So Ahadiyya is not like Wahidiyya.
*
Ahad is the description of the Essence and its Name and that essence cannot accept anyone to share with it anything. That Essence is described, to understand that is given the name Allah, the Creator.
*
The name ism al-jami‘ al-asma’i was-siffat. The reality of Wahidīyya, in Holy Qur’an is mentioned as: wa ilahukum ilahun Wahid.
*
That Name can describe all these Attributes and infinite numbers of Names.
*
As we said, al-Wahid, wa ilahukum ilahun Wahid, your Lord is One Lord, it directs you and describes for you the Divine Presence of the Names and Attributes. Only to understand His Beautiful Names.
*
Thru His Names you can understand His Signs.
*
Al-Karīm sending you favors.
*
Al-Hakīm, sending you wisdom.
*
Al-Wasi‘, al-Razzaq, through these Names you can understand the description wa ilahukum ilahun Wahid – “He your Lord is One.”
So wa ilahukum ilahun Wahid, that Wahid
*
I s a relationship between human beings, Allah wants human beings to know Him.
*
So thru that Name they know Him. That is where the relationship is built.
*
So you are worshipping that One to be worshipped, al-Wahid.
*
So Wahid shows the relationship between Creator and created.
Ahad is complete unknown, you cannot understand it or reach it and no one can understand or share form that reality. That is ghaybun mutlaq, absolute unknown/unseen.
*
From that name Wahid, creation appeared. { Number 11 describes the Mirror Allah Creation in His Image Divine Mirror}
*
Not from the name Ahad. Ahad is beyond that.
*
From Wahid which describes the names and attributes.
*
From that name al-Qadir { AQL , A= Al-Aleem , Qaf= Al-Qadir L= first LAM Mulk Malakut} appeared and creation is created.
*
So Wahid is the center of everything that cannot accept any description.
You cannot understand. That was given to the Prophet (s), say to them He is Ahad.
*
That is what Sayyīdina Bilal was saying when in torture. He was saying “Ahad, Ahad.”
*
Because the Prophet (s) took the Sahaba from the dunya, they sought the love of Allah and sought that reality fro the name that was hidden. So they want to ascend further, so He was saying, “Ahad, Ahad!”
If you have a circle {Circle represents Creation Huwa Awwal=1, Huwa Akhir=9 between 1-9 is all creation , All creation is in Quran, All Quran is in Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Raheem 19 Letters }and you have a line { represents Infinity},
*
How many points on that line are equal to each other? Infinite number.
*
If you have a circle, how many points in the center are similar to each other. One.
*
So the center and focus is one{ One Allah, One Ahmad}.
*
There is no way to have partners.
*
Circumference how many points are equal to each other?
*
They are all the same. These are asma’ was-siffat.
*
These are Attributes and Names.
*
They all form the center, they have equal relationship but the center cannot be described in the circle. We are speaking only in order to understand. You cannot understand the center.
*
It is one, unique. { La Illaha IlAllah Muhammad RasulAllah}
*
The whole circumference are Names and Attributes. How many are there on the circumference. You cannot limit their number.
*
There is no limitation to Allah’s Greatness. So asma’ ul-husna have no limitation. Most people know 99 but there are more. Some scholars know 1000 but no one can go to infinite. But Allah is greater than Names and Attributes. Therefore there are infinite Names and Attributes.
What kind of ocean are you entering? You think that when Allah revealed to the Prophet (s) it is what they translate, “Say: He is Allah the One.” When you enter these scholars’ oceans or these Awlīya’-ullah’s oceans in these meanings, you will be drowned.
You cannot emerge. What is this dunya it is nothing. We are running day and night. No
problem you run - but don’t forget akhirah. One leg in dunya and one in akhirah.
That is for balanced people.
For unbalanced people there are two types: those who are completely crazy in dunya life. And then those who are crazy in Allah’s love. And in the middle are the majority.
Half and half. Not many are going to give up everything for akhirah.
Some scholars say we are working for akhirah. But you see they are still connected [to dunya].
Those who are vagabonds in the way of Allah. Gypsies. Where do they go? How they lie? They lie anywhere. These ascetics lie anywhere also. You see a lot of homeless on the streets. He was telling me one day, Dr. Qaysar . they sell spaces on the street. They have shifts. Every street is monitored by one wrestler, mafia. So he gives him 8 hour shift.
They sell the street. But you might not know that one of these homeless on the street is a waliullah. Monitoring who is going and who is coming.
Allahu akbar.
So what happened. When these kummel,
*
those endowed with perfect Knowledge of Allah, ma'rifa ullah, seekers of the way, when they entered the Oceans of the Attributes,
*
Wahidīyya, and Ahadiyya, their minds explode.
*
They cannot continue. They were bewildered - hayyara.
*
They saw themselves nothing. All their knowledge is nothing. Because their knowledge of 60 or 80 years of age they will leave hear and go to eternal life and see knowledge that will drown them.
*
Why do they have to suffer in the dunya ad-deniya. Tell me one person here who does not have a problem. If anyone has no problem raise your hand.
So that is why these perfect sincere people they acknowledged, their helplessness.
Aqarar al-‘ajz to reach the reality of knowledge.
*
They knew that the only one that can understand the reality of tawhīd, the only …??
*
No one can understand the reality of tawhīd except the Creator. And that is why He Called the Prophet (s) Muhammad on the night of Ascension.
*
To tell him the reality of that oneness,
*
la ilaha ill-Allah muhammadu rasulullah that is written on every leaf in paradise.
*
That is there reality given to the Prophet (s) Muhammad (s) from tawhīd.
That is why Allah gave that reality to ‘Abd al-Ahad, ‘Abd al-Wahid and ‘Abd us-Samad. And He said, “Qul Hū Allahu Ahad. Allahu as-samad.
Towards Understanding Your Souls Ahadiyya Samadia Dress
Tafsir Surah Ikhlas Part 2
by Shaykh Hisham Al-Kabbani
part1
Anas related that (in section: “fadā’il qul hū Allāhu Āhad”), “ The Jews of Khaybar, came to the Prophet (s) and said, ‘Yā Abul Qāssim! Allāh swt has created angels from light. And He created Adam from clay and He created Iblees from fire and He created heavens from smoke and He created the earth from the zabadul mā’, the foam of the water. Tell us about Your Lord.’ The Prophet (s) did not answer them.
[He was waiting for wahy. Although he knows the answer, because Allāh gave him the knowledge of first and last. He would not answer until the answer comes to him. Everyone here wants to make himself he knows something. “I know. I know. I know better.” Everyone knows. Only one says “I don’t know.” So he waited.]
Then Jibraeel {as} came with the surah:
*
“qul hū Allāhu Āhad. Allāhus-Samad.” [Allāh has no partner.
*
Allāhus-samad. He is the Sustainer, he is the Owner of everything.
*
“Lam yalid wa lam yūlad.” You cannot connect to him a child.
*
He does not give birth and He has not been created.
*
“Wa lam yakun lahu kufūwan Āhad.” No in His creation can replace Him or hold this universe together.
*
That universe is held together by Allāh swt. No one can hold it together.
This surah has no mention of Paradise or Hellfire. It only mentions Allāh swt. It mentions neither dunya nor ākhirah. Nor halāl or harām. It is only pure for Allāh swt. There is nothing else in it.
*
Whoever recites it 3 times will be as if he had read the entire revelation. You will be rewarded as if you had read the whole Qur’ān.
*
30 times a day, he will be one of the best of the people of dunya in reward and
*
whoever reads it 200 times, will be given a place in Jannat al-Firdaws where he will be happy with it.
*
Whoever reads it three times when he enters his home will never see poverty and it will help his neighbor.
*
Someone used to recite it (from Sahaba) after the Fatiha.
*
He used to know the whole Qur’ān but only recites this surah. They went to the Prophet (s) and mentioned that in a mocking way. And the Prophet (s) asked him, “Why are you reading only Sūrah al-Ikhlās.” He said, “innī uhibuhā.” Qāla hubuha adkhalak al-jannat. And the Prophet (s) that night was reciting Sūrah al-Ikhlās until the morning.
So that surah, “Qul hū Allāhu Āhad” is very important for Muslims to learn and to recite. Every day, if you recite it at least 200 times you will receive a house in paradise. And our shuyukh always ask us to recite it 1000 times a day and there will be a great benefit in it.
Abi K‘ab said that the Prophet (s) said, “whoever recites Qul hū Allāhu Āhad will be as if he read one third of the Holy Qur’ān.”
Anas said that the Prophet (s) said, “whoever recites ‘Qul hū Allāhu Āhad’ 200 times Allāh will forgive him the sins of 200 years.”
Ibn ‘Abbās said that the Prophet (s) said, “Qul hū Allāhu Āhad is one third of the Holy Qur’ān.”
Ibn ‘Umar said, “salla binna rasulullāhi dhāt yawmin fis-safr”. The Prophet (s) led us in prayer one day while we were in travel. In the first rakat he read Qul hū Allāhu Āhad and in the 2nd rakat “qul yā ayuhal kāfirūn.” After he finished he told the companions, ‘I read one third of the Qur’ān and one fourth of the Qur’ān.’”
*
[Sūrah al-Ikhlās is equal to 1/3 and
*
Sūrah al-Kāfirūn is equal to ¼
*
Surah Zilzallah is equal to 1/2
*
Ali said that the Prophet (s) said, “whoever wanted to travel and as he is leaving his home, put his hands on the locks/doors of the house recites 11 times Qul hū Allāhu Āhad, Allāh will protect his home until he returns.
There are many of these hadith.
Abu Huraira related that the Prophet (s) said, “whoever comes to his house and recites Sūrah al-Fātiha and Sūrah al-Ikhlās, Allāh will remove from him poverty and it will benefit his neighbors, [from the favors that Allāh grants him].”
*
Ibn Umar said, that the Prophet (s) said, whoever recites Sūrah al-Ikhlās 11 times Allāh will build for him a palace in Paradise.
Umar said, “Wallāhi O Prophet of Allāh this is very good. If we recite it 11 times we will have many paradises in paradise.” He replied, “Of course, Allāh is generous, and so recite and take.”
Ayesha ® said, that the Prophet (s) sent a man with a division of people to go to a certain place. In the prayer he used to recited Qul hū Allāhu Āhad. When they returned the people said, “the man always recites Sūrah al-Ikhlās in the prayer.” The Prophet (s) told them to ask him why he did that. He said, “It describes the attributes of Allāh and I love to recite it.” The Prophet (s) said, “tell him that Allāh loves him.”
This sample from hundreds of hadith explain the greatness of Sūrah al-Ikhlās, and we were planning to explain, but it is too long, we were mentioning yesterday that Allāh is describing Himself, as Āhad. And we explained the difference between Āhad and Wāhid.
*
Āhad describes the Essence that has no way of sharing the Essence.
*
Wāhid is – you know about Allāh through His Beautiful Names. All of them, for example we know 99 Names, though Allāh has 99 Names.
*
Every Name is different indicating a different attribute. Though all are different they all reference the same One. So with many Names, all refer to One.
“Wa ilahukum ilaahun Wāhid.” – “Your Lord is one Lord.”
*
Not two. So Wāhid describes the Divine Presence of the Names.
*
Āhad describes itself by itself, the Essence by itself. That is the Complete Unseen that Allāh swt opens thru His Names from Āhad to Wāhid.
*
Then the Prophet (s) knows. From siffat al-Wāhidīyya, they understand from these Beautiful Names, all of which come from Wāhid.
*
But in reality Āhad sends to Wāhid.
In the tafsir Rūh al-bayān he says, “tawhīd adh-dhātin mukhtasin bi-??? Allāh ta‘ala.”
When we refer to the Oneness of Allāh, the description of the Oneness of Āhad is only for the Essence, no one knows it and that is why you can understand Wāhid, but Āhad must reveal to Wāhid from the Essence. That is why we say there are an infinite number of names. From that Beautiful Essence come these Beautiful Names. From the Āhad comes the description to Wāhid.
*
So we have Āhad and we have Wāhid.
*
That is why there is ‘Abd al-Āhad.
*
The servant of that Name. Someone whom Allāh is giving hints about that specialty of that reality.
*
‘Abd al-Āhad and ‘Abd al-Wāhid.
*
And then He continues, “Qul hū Allāhu Āhad, Allāhu as-Samad.” Why did he repeat ‘Allāhu’? He could say “Qul hū Allāhu Āhad, samad.”
*
“Allāhu Āhad”, means no one knows that reality.
*
“Allāhus samad” means this is another description of that reality.
Some reciters connect “Allāhu Āhadun Allāhus samad” connecting the recitation. Some scholars recommend not to connect it as Allāh did not connect. Allāh is sufficient to Himself, He needs no partner. The Self-sufficient Master whom all creatures need. He neither eats nor drinks.
We will skip the details of ‘Abd al-Āhad, ‘Abd al-Wāhid and ‘Abdus Samad.
We will go to the explanation of ibn ash-Shaykh.
He said:
Holy Quran Waqia: 56.7 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes.
56.8 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;-
What will be the Companions of the Right Hand?
56.9 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be
the Companions of the Left Hand?
56.10 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost
(in the Hereafter).
56.11 These will be those Nearest to Allah. Ulaika almuqarrabona
“This verse is showing that there are three different levels and stations for the seekers and Gnostics whose intention is Allah swt:
*
Hū, { Ha=5, Waw=6, 5+6=11}
*
Allāh,
*
Āhad.
The first maqam is maqam al-muqarabbin,.
{This is the Level of Naqshbandi Tariqat}
*
That is the meaning of Hū. { Ha=5 Waw=6, =11}
*
It is the level of the near ones in paradise.
*
That is the highest level.
*
They look at the realities of everything in this dunya s it is created.
*
Hum alladhīna yandhuru ila haqīqati… They looked at everything and they did not see anything except Allāh.
*
Anything they look takes them to the reality of the Creator.
*
That is deep explanation here.
*
In this maqām al-muqarabbīn, the near ones, when they looked at everything they looked at its most essential form and its smallest part, its reality.
*
Look at this cap.
*
It is plastic.
*
If you break it down into its constituent components, you will find it is made of different particles, atoms, that come together and form that.
When they are looking they are looking at the smallest possible element from what this is made of.
*
When they looked at the atom they saw the electrons and the energy that is created, spinning around the nucleus at the speed of light.
*
What do they see there – light, energy.
*
Energy coming from Bahr al-qudrat. { Ba see article on BA keys of Jennah}
*
Looking at that they did not see anything, homes, buildings, water, mountains, they did not see. They only saw Allāh’s Signs. Allāh’s Signs can be seen while Allāh cannot be seen. { Greatest of Allah Signs is Sayedena Muhammad }
*
They saw these signs that led them to Allāh’s attributes and names. It depends on how many you have in the periodic table. There might be 200 or more. Every element is different from the other. If you go down to its internal elements, you find the same structure in nucleus, protons, neutrons and the electrons.
*
They only differ in the number of particles. These come from the ocean of power. So they came from one – from the one Ocean of Power.
*
That makes Awliya’ stunned. Everything goes back to Allāh and everything is in-understandable. That is why they saw themselves as nothing. They don’t see existence except for Allāh. All else is fanī, illusion, vanishing. It does not make any sense to them.
Why worry about something that is vanishing. If they have something to eat, one or two dates, to keep worshipping. They don’t care for a horse, for a camel, a car, a plane or a train. They care to wrap their stomachs with stones, for three days from hunger as the Prophet (s) did. And the mountain of Uhud came to the Prophet (s) and said, “Allāh gave me permission to become gold for you in order to support you.” He said, “we don’t need it.” That is a vanishing dunya. Where are such people today. Find them they are hidden. So when they look at Allāh swt’s reality they found that no one can understand that reality except Allāh. So no one can understand it - it is impossible. The created cannot understand the Creator.
So then they looked at His Creation,
*
from the reality of the level of Hū (‘Qul Hu’), they looked at the reality of the creation from Hu, { Insan Kamel}
*
they saw that creation does not exist, but what exists is Himself.
*
He is describing himself as Hu.
*
Meaning, “You are a servant and you cannot understand Me.
*
Whatever I created in the universe does not look deserver to be looked at.
*
You must look at Me, but when you look at Me you cannot see Me, it is hidden, you can only see My Attributes, my Beautiful Names.” { Rasuls 11th name is Ya-Seen eleven shows 1,1 }
*
So they were not able to see, so what did they do.
*
They began to use their hearts and the vision that Allāh gave to their hearts and the intelligence that Allāh gave to their mind and when they used their mind they saw that everything is pointing to the creator.
*
In their eyes there was nothing that was not pointing to the Creator.
*
Looking at an idol and see it pointing to the Creator, look at the carvings, they are made of wood, which Allāh created, wool which Allāh created, cotton which Allāh created.
*
That is the maqām of muqarabbin.
The 2nd maqam is the Magam Ashab il-Yamen.
*
The Companions of the right hand.
*
Wa ashābul yamīni mā ashābul-yamīn…wa fākihatan kathīratin…thulatun min al-awwalīn… (Sūrah al-Waqi‘ah)
*
Allāh wants those in this level to know qul Hū Allāhu Āhad.
*
Hū is described by the Name ‘Allāh’ thru that Name, all the other infinite Names come under it.
*
That is lower than the first level, the level of Hu.
*
Because ashāb al-yamīn were able to look, they were able to see on one side the Signs of the Creator, but on the other side and they saw the creation.
*
They were in between – with the Creator and with the creation.
*
They saw both sides. So Allāh describes them in Sūrah al-Waqi‘ah as sitting among, “thornless lote-trees…and in a shade long extended and water flowing constantly and fruit in plenty, not….on couches raised high.”
*
Allāh is describing the second level here in Sūrah al-Waqi‘ah in many verses. Fa ashāb ul-mash’amati mā ashāb ul-mash’amat…. Those who will be given their records in their right hand how fortunate, for they will be given their records in their right hands… in the gardens of delight…
*
They worshipped Allāh in dunya, but they balanced their dunya and ākhirah, doing work for both.
That is why Allāh told them, for the first level, qul Hū, these seekers of the first level understand the word from Hū – don’t look at other than Me.
*
The second level he described in more detail – he gave them the name Allāh.
*
Must do for dunya and for ākhirah. Asmā are for dunya.
*
Ar-Rahmān, ar-Rahīm, ar-Razzāq, al-Karīm, and so on are from the dunya. They describe what you receive from Allāh swt.
*
That is why in tariqat, in Āhl as-Sunnah wal-Jamā‘ah.
*
They make dhikr with Allāh.
*
First they start with la ilāha ill-Allāh. Negate that there is any other than Allāh. Don’t honor yourself.
*
Don’t worship except Allāh.
*
Then they go to dhikr “Allāh.”
*
That is a higher level.
*
Then the higher level is ‘Hu’ where you can see nothing but Him. There is nothing.
The third level is the level of Ashāb ash-shimāl.
*
That is the lowest level.
*
These ones say there are many lords and many creators.
*
They are unbelievers and idol-worshippers.
*
They say that Allāh has a son.
*
They are not monotheists.
*
Then Allāh must tell them that it is not only Allāh .
*
He told them Allāh is Āhad. Don’t put anyone with Him.
Hu is complete unknown.
*
Allāh you can understand His Signs.
*
Āhad – tell them that He is one, He has no partner. Allāh is giving a strong message.
*
Don’t say that Allāh has a partner has a sharīk, or a son.
*
No, He is One, Unique.
These current tafsir are explained according to a political situation that they are living in. these are explained in how to analyze this knowledge thru hadith and different tafsir of companions and put in these meanings. But recent tafsir is based on social issues or … not based on knowledge. They want to give an acceptable understanding of the Qur’ān according to the political situation they are living. This we understand it is ok but it does not give hub al akhirah. It will build up your self to stop your bad desires and direct your goal your aim and your hope to find a way to reach ma‘rifah.
That ma‘rifah has disappeared now. They might teach it in high level classes in Islamic modern Sunni institutes like al-Azhar. It might be in PhD classes. But they are not even teaching this, in Saudi Arabia. For them that is not found this book. You can find Ibn Kathir, yes, because he is limited in his tafsir. Or ibn Taymīyya. But the traditional ones are gone.
Even in as-Suyuti which you can find in Saudi Arabia. They say don’t count the recitations, this is bida‘h. And I was mentioning these hadith from Bukhari and Muslim and this is Suyuti. All of them accept. And they were reciting either three times, which is equal to whole Qur’ān. Recite 11 times when you go out on travel or when you enter your home, your wealth will increase and benefit your neighbors. And if you recite 200 times and you will be forgiven 200 years. They say do as much as you like but don’t count the numbers. The Prophet (s) said to do it. And the Prophet (s) used to do so. He said, “I recited one third of Qur’ān and one fourth.” But you don’t find this anywhere. All is politics now. Every hadith is politics or hellfire, punishment, killing, fighting. Speak of Allāh’s mercy. It is there.
That is a sign of the Last Days. They come and say “what do we have to do? This is going bad for Muslims. Etc.:” This is correct. Everything is turning against Muslims now.
Everywhere. And you don’t guarantee yourself anymore if tomorrow anything happens. There is a big attack on Islam. That is a sign that this is going to come. There will be a time of complete ignorance. Yauma al-jahl. Knowledge will be raised up. Now they say they are selling too many Qur’āns.
But they are not believing in it anymore. The say that Islam is a violent religion. And the Prophet (s) mentioned it. They asked, “Will the Qur’ān be raised up?” He said, “No. the scholars will die”. The scholars of today are political scholars. They take money. They take money form their regimes. That is haram it is not accepted. Whatever the dictator tells you to write you will write. The Prophet (s) said, “yakhruju waladun min awlādi. Yamla al-ardu qistan wa ‘adlan kama mulīyat dhulman wa jūra.” There are many hadith on that. Hundreds.
*
He comes before Sayyīdinā ‘Isa. He will not come before ignorance fills the earth. Until Sayyīdinā ‘Isa comes to say “Islam is correct and you were wrong.” That will not come until there is dominance of non-Muslims on Muslims. They say Islam will come from west and prevail. If so why does mahdi and Isa come. They are coming to tell unbelievers you were wrong, Islam is correct and you were wrong. He will break the cross and kill the pig.
So now we are seeing a whole invasion against Islam. It is worldwide, and they accuse this one and that one of blowing up something. Might not be. That is why the first group we mentioned, they don’t care. Their aim is Allāh. Their heart is for Allāh. Their body is for Allāh. Their souls is for Allāh. What is going on they are deaf from dunya. The 2nd level like us, struggling ashāb al-yamīn. But we ask not to be of 3rd group. Whom Allāh told them “Āhad.”
The Muslims Allāh said, “Allāh” and they said, “Yes, we accept.” Allāh said to unbelievers. “qul Hū Allāhu Āhad” say He is Allāh the One. And they refused. The believers must prevail. It means that that heavenly support is coming. There was never such an attack on Islam as we are seeing today. Look at history. Never can you see from 1960 to today anything like that. There was a little bit here and there. But now it is global. What does it have to do with Bali?
Who did that? We don’t know. They say “Muslims.” Everything is blamed on Muslims. Allāhu akbar. Never mind. Our duty is to keep to ourselves. Not to be with these people or those people. O Allāh save us. We are helpless weak servants. Save us.
‘Abd as-Samad.
*
“Lam yalid wa lam yūlad” – “He begets nor was He begotten.”
*
Allāh swt lam yalid. He is giving an answer to those who claimed that angels are Allāh’s children or those who claimed that Sayyidina Isa is his son.
*
Or those who said that He took Sayyīdinā Isa as a son.
*
Here he is answering them, lam yalid, in the past tense.
*
He is revealing that surah to the Prophet (s), saying that those who claimed in the past who claimed that Allāh took ‘Isa as a son,
*
He never had a son and that is against His Lordship, His Rubūbīyya, His Godliness.
*
It negates the attribute of the creator and His names.
*
He does not need anything. He doe not need a wife, he does not need a child. He did not need a child in the past. That is why it came in the past tense. It came in the mādi (past tense) form.
*
He is not in need of having a child in the past, lam yalid – He never had a child. This is complete negation of the characteristics of humanity. He negated that attribute of bearing children or offspring. That, O Muhammad, is incorrect – tell them, inform them.
*
Wa lam yūlad. He was not born. If we say walad, a child, he is going to take the characteristics of his father, his mother, his parents. The child, a human being, if Allāh has a child, and brought a child, that child is going to be god also, and that never ends. Each one will give birth to a child and that is why Allāh created us. He was not ever born nor will He ever be born from someone else. Whoever is born, will later marry and give birth to someone else. That is related to bashr, human characteristics, and is impossible to relate it to Divine characteristics.
*
Since He never begets nor is He begotten. For that reason, He is not in any way like anyone else. Lam yakun lahu kufūwan Āhad.
*
Or lam yakun lahu kufūwan, Āhad. Laysa ka-mithilihi shayyun wa Hū as-sami‘ul basīr - “There is nothing like unto Him and He is the all-Hearing the Seeing.”
*
He hears whatever you say, even what comes to your heart.
*
Be careful, even what comes to your heart. Allāh hears wherever you are going.
*
Hū sami‘un basīrun. He is monitoring you wherever you go. These surveillance cameras see what you are doing and hear what you are saying. Allāh can not only hear your voice, but hears what your heart is saying and he Hears the blood of the body saying “Allāh” or saying something else.
Every drop of blood is in dhikrullāh. Look, when they do ultrasound, what is the sound, Hū, Hū, Hū, Hū. Look the heart is making dhikr by itself. Is that what we are hearing or not? The heart knows. Ma wasi‘anī samā’ī wa la ardī wa lākin wasi‘anī qalbī ‘abdī al-mu’min – Neither My heavens contained nor My earth but the heart of the believing servant contained Me.”
*
That heart is pure, it contains ‘arsh ar-Rahmān. But we are veiling it with our bad manners. That heart never stops making dhikr, tasbīh of the One whom there is not one like unto Him.
*
Lam yumathilahu wa lam yushākiluhu Āhad. There is not way that anyone can resemble him, impossible.
*
He is the creator of every person. Al-akifa. He does not need a sahiba. Lam yatakhida sāhiban wa lā walada.
*
He never took a girlfriend, or woman companion.
*
We must marry. Look at difference between servant and Creator. Servant goes after pleasures. I made you in need for that. All of you are living for what? For pleasure. Eating and drinking and many people in this are, there are people taking bottles, bottles, vitamin e, vitamin a, vitamin z, aluminum, organic, organic, herbal…. For what? For their pleasures? Are you taking that? If you were in Pakistan you don’t need it. If you were in Arab countries dates is enough or honey. Here no. They have to have drugs in these pharmacies. How much money are they making on you? They set up alternative medicine. They say you need calcium, zinc. Everyone for one purpose every mind of the human being is only on one thing: when he is going to jump. La hayā fī al-dīn.
No one is thinking about ‘ibadatullāh, pure servanthood. People kill each other today. Fight each other one country to another all for the pleasure of dunya. Nothing else.
The Prophet (s) said, “ayahjazu āhadakum an tiqra al-Qur’ān fee laylatun wāhida?” can any one of you recite the entire Qur’ān in one night. Fa qīla yā rasūl Allāh man yutīqu dhālik.
That is very difficult. One ju’z take s15-20 minutes to recite one ju’z. That is 600 minutes or 10 hours. If it impossible to do that.
An yaqrā Qul hū Allāhu Āhad, thalātha marāt. If he recites Qul hū Allāhu Āhad three times.
And it is reported that Sayyīdinā Jibreel came to the Prophet (s) when he was in ghazwat tabūk and said, “Yā rasūlAllāh, Mawaiya ? bin al-muzni died in Madina. Do you want me to fold space for you to pray on him in Madina in one second?” Jibreel hit his wing to earth and brought the earth’s ends together and the Prophet (s) prayed the janaza on him and behind him were two rows of angels in each row 70,000 angels. And then he returned to Tabūk. And he asked Jibreel, How did he reach that level?” Jibreel said, ”because of his love to Qul hū Allāhu Āhad. His reciting going, coming, standing, sitting. With that Allāh granted him that reward.”
It is called Sūrah al-Ikhlās because It shows the purity of Allāh of his oneness and his lack of any associates. And ikhlās means it will save you from punishment. It is purely for the oneness of Allāh swt. With this we end Sūrah al-Ikhlās.
Whatever is mentioned in it is for ākhirah purely, nothing for dunya. It is called Sūrah al-Ikhlās because it saves the reciter form the difficulties of death and from the darkness of the graves and from the difficulties of judgment day.
May Allāh forgive us.
*
Next time we explain ‘Abd as-Samad.
*
A man came to the Prophet (s) and complained of poverty. The Prophet (s) said, “whenever you enter your house say salaam.
*
If someone is there to them and if not, to yourself.
*
And recite one time Sūrah al-Ikhlās.” The man did that and Allāh provided him so much provision that he was helping his neighbors.
*
Those who are under the tajallī of the name ‘Hu’ are the muqarabūn.
*
For them there is no existence except that of Allāh swt. Wherever they turn their faces in dunya, it holds nothing for them, except Signs of Allāh. They are in maq‘adi sidqin, truthful station.
The names which reflect the Names and Attributes show Allāh’s Oneness. Allāh and the Names under the Essence whose name is Hu.
*
Awlīyā’ consider Hū a hidden Name of Allāh.
*
You can say Hū Allāh.
*
And some say dhikr al-Hū - the Unknown One.
*
That is why there are three levels.
People are under in the different tajallī of these names. Some are under various names. They are devoted partly for dunya, partly for ākhirah.
Third level is Āhad. He said, ‘Qul hū Allāh’. That was enough for believers. But unbelievers did not believe, so He added to the description as Āhad. Unique. Not described. Āhad described what tells the unbelievers ‘don’t go astray. ‘You cannot worship or describing thing itself.
*
He is Āhad in all attributes, in His characteristics.
*
That is why Sayyīdinā Bilal continued to say, “Āhad, Āhad.”
*
Not saying “Allāh, Allāh.’ And we explained the meaning of Wāhid which all point to the one who is alone in sovereignty. That is to tell the unbelievers they have strayed so fart from correct belief.
*
There are those who make dhikr with Hū and those who make dhikr with Allāh and those who use the tahlīl.
*
Those who recited dhikr with tahlīl.
Those who reached high level, use Allāh for dhikr. That paints all the attributes.
When they go to next level that is infinite Names.
*
From the maqām Hū are infinite Names coming out to representing one of the 1 million.
*
They said that there is a son of God or they used to say there are many gods, and serve them. They even feed them. I saw that on the streets of Indonesia.
Allāh on the other hand is Sustainer of everything. He doesn’t not need to earth or drink
So Allāh swt says, ‘kāna yakulāni at-ta‘am” they need food and to use bathroom.
*
Thru that name as-Samad they get their permission for rizq.
*
Because He is Unique and His Essence is Unique.
*
That is why the uniqueness of His Essence cannot be described.
So it described Allāh sent to His level of Oneness.
*
That is why under as-Samad, comes all the Names.
From as-Samad came three inheritors. In every century there is one carrying manifestation of ‘Abd al-Āhad. ‘
*
Abd al-Āhad he guides people [in their spiritual life]. ‘Abd us-Samad is able to guide people and creature to their sustenance.
Allāh is the one who sends these tajallīyāt, manifestations in order to guide the creating. We have created
The Prophet (s) was able to carry all these tajallīs, in Laylat al-Isrā’ wa al-Mi‘rāj – the Night Journey and Ascension. Since not everyone could carry all these tajallīs, one specialized in one, and another in another.
That is why you see the big difference between the different hadith and what the Sahaba understood. That was a mercy for human begins. That is like the main pipe carrying the main flood, while the individual container can contain some if.
According to your container’s size he will give.
In every century there is ‘Abd al-Wāhid, one goes, another comes. ‘Abd al-Āhad.
That is the unique owner of that time. There is one in every century.
Ka‘aba has four walls, each representing something. Not important is the sides of the Ka‘aba, but the holy light. That dimension you cannot see is important an, highly important.
The Ka‘aba on earth is reflection of Bayt al-Mā‘mūr in heavens where anbīyā praying.
There is descension of light from the Bayt al-Mā‘mūr to Ka‘aba. That you cannot see. That is what we say al-Qutb al-‘adham. That is highest qutb in dunya. Specially hold the power over all other qutb. Qutb, qutb al-bilad, qutb al-irshad, qutb al-tasarruf, qutb al-aqtāb.
*
The qutb al-aqtāb receives direct these qutbs .
*
The people of south need south face of qutb
*
People of east face west, people of west face east.
*
So where is the 5th qutb?
*
He is in hajral aswad.
*
That is the maqām al-fardānī, and one walī is always in that black stone.
Sayyīdinā Umar said to the stone, “I kiss that stone as following the Prophet (s), because I see it doesn’t not profit or harm.”
Sayyīdinā Ali said, “What are you saying? That is going to make shahada no you on Judgment Day.”
Grandshaykh, in one vision, was shown the wali behind the stone. He kissed the stone and saw who was there.
Mawlana was taken by Grand Shaykh to kiss black stone. He saw the wali behind that stone.
1969 in Madinah Shaykh Adnan and myself were with Mawlana on hajj and zīyārah.
Mawlana Shaykh Nazim took them to the Rawdat ash-sharīf. Then we went out with Mawlana Shaykh and he went right, between wall of the Prophet (s) mosque and a few meters, is a street, took a right. There was there a school, maktabat Bukhārī from Turkish times. They keep a relic there when Prophet (s) prayed with Sahaba. So they took us there and Grand Shaykh said, “I have been ordered to lead you in prayer here.”
Immediately he began to pray and it was as if Mawlana Shaykh was there in front of the Ka‘aba.
That is qutbiyyat il-kubra.
That is like the Ghawth, Sultan al-Awliya’.
Yes so Grand Shaykh is Sultan al-Awliya’ and Mawlana Shaykh inherited that. And when he passed he said, “He has a name between Awlīyā’, he is going to be called Muayyad ad-dīn” and we see that he says, “I am going to destroy kufr.” We wonder about that, but when Allāh’s permission comes he will be given that power.
He is unique in a given time and owner of that time, he has the Qutbīyyat al-kubra. And his existence appears under ismullāh al-Āhad. Under Āhadīyya. Āhad means uniqueness of Allāh.
That was message to unbelievers: “Don’t worship other than Me!” Ali?? nur that is given power to defeat kufr by Allāh.
His existence is unique. You cannot find any character like Mawlana Shaykh Nazim.
He is special and unique. Grandshaykh was like that in his time, and grand Grandshaykh was like that, and so on back to the time of the Prophet (s).
*
Abd al-Āhad is getting the tajallī of Wāhid, which is Allāh.
*
Wāhidīyya – destroying kufr. Al-Wadūd, al-Karīm, etc. describe that one. There is an infinite number of names. And all creations are under the tajallī of one name.
*
Uniqueness is higher than that. ‘Abd al-Wāhid – Allāh has shown him a complete rainbow of Names as Attributes that He dressed him with in order to reach creation in what they need.
*
‘Abd us-Samad, under samadīyya, is one who inherited from Prophet (s) from Allāh the power of guiding people thru their lives to their sustenance and their rizq and their needs.
*
Abd al-Āhad takes them to spirituality.
*
He takes them from the level of ‘Abd al-Wāhid to the level of the Prophet (s) who takes them to the Divine Presence.
